Rebuild Strong Teeth with Restorative Dentistry
Decay is a well-understood process with sometimes devastating consequences. Preventing decay is straightforward and not complicated—reduce the numbers of bacteria in your mouth with daily brushing and flossing with fluoride products and reduce the frequent intake of natural fruit sugars and those found in processed foods and drinks. Maybe easier said than done, but that’s all there is to it! Unfortunately, we are bombarded with sweetened products at the grocery store, the coffee shop, the gas station, and our own pantries. In an age when we know more than ever about preventing cavities, they are still a major dental problem for many people.
When detected early enough, minimal areas of decay can be successfully restored with fillings. We offer tooth-colored fillings made of composite resin for most restorations. Where chips or small spaces are an issue, we can use this material to repair these areas conservatively. Of course, sometimes more extensive damage occurs, which may need to be treated with root canal therapy or customized dental crowns and bridges.
Every person’s restorative needs are different, and we are happy to sit down with you before any treatment and discuss your unique concerns before deciding on a plan of action. We also work hard at education and prevention to stop the underlying process to prevent future decay. Call us today at (860) 870-9031 and the dedicated team at Zahner Dental will provide you with the comprehensive and compassionate care our practice has become known for over the years.
Root Canal Therapy
Once decay has been able to reach a tooth’s vulnerable inner chamber, there’s only one method for saving it from the threat of extraction – root canal therapy. At Zahner Dental, we’ll work hard to help patients preserve their natural dental structure and smile without pain once more.
Dental Crowns
When a tooth has become badly damaged, decayed, or even lost altogether, a custom restoration can help rebuild the strong, functional dental structure that’s sorely missed. Our doctors can design the ideal crown or bridge for each unique patient. We even offer CEREC technology so that the process only takes one visit.
SAME DAY DENTISTRY WITH CEREC®
The traditional process of having a custom restoration created typically takes two or more appointments. Thankfully, we can simplify this process without sacrificing any of the quality our patients deserve. With CEREC technology, we’re able to eliminate messy physical impressions, uncomfortable temporary restorations, and the long wait – instead, patients have their new dental crown or bridge designed, milled, and placed within their smile over the course of a single appointment.
During the CEREC process, our doctors will create a digital scan of the affected tooth or teeth, using computer-aided design to outline the ideal restoration. Then, this information is sent to the in-house milling unit for creation, which has two milling chambers for maximum convenience and speed. After making any last-minute adjustments to the finished product, all that’s left to do is cement it in place and ensure the patient’s full satisfaction.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge allows you to say goodbye to any gaps in your smile. Creating a bridge involves combining two dental crowns with artificial teeth known as pontics. With the pontics filling in the empty space and the crowns keeping the entire prosthesis anchored in place, you’ll once again have a complete smile. Note that traditional bridges can only be placed if the teeth adjacent to the gap are in good enough health to support the crowns.
Dentures & Partials
Dentures have been a reliable tooth replacement solution for hundreds of years now, and our doctors can design the ideal full or partial prosthetic to help transform your ailing smile as well. Implant-retained prosthetics are also available for patients who are seeking a greater degree of permanence and stability.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
Sometimes, dental problems aren’t as simple as a single damaged tooth – many patients are saddled with years’ worth of oral health problems, and they may feel like there’s no hope for regaining the strong, capable smile they need to enjoy life to the fullest again. With full mouth reconstruction, our Ellington doctors can help you accomplish what was once thought impossible.
Full mouth reconstruction isn’t a single service – it’s a personalized plan of action that involves multiple treatments. Our recommendations for treatment will depend on the severity of your concerns, and they may include periodontal therapy, tooth-colored fillings, dental crowns and bridges, root canal therapy, dental implants, and much more. Our goal is to restore every part of your mouth (the teeth, the gums, and the jaw) to their optimal state, and by deciding on the course of action before any treatment begins, we can schedule your appointments to be as convenient and comprehensive as possible.
